Overview

Helio Health is on a mission to treat and promote recovery from the effects of substance use, mental health disorders, and other behavioral healthcare issues. To support the mission of Helio Health, the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialist will provide rehabilitation services to patients as a part of their overall treatment. The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialist will work on a Full-Time basis out of Helio Health’s Syracuse Outpatient Program. While some work and appointments may occur in our office, this position will primarily work in the community itself and therefore a valid driver's license is required.

 

In addition to Helio Health’s comprehensive benefits package, this position is eligible for a Sign-On incentive up to $1,500!

 

Pay Range: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour. 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a caseload of adults, youth, or families.  

  • Perform primary psychiatric rehabilitation including screening, intake, orientation, evaluation, referral, patient education, treatment planning, reporting and record keeping, discharge planning, and consultation with other professionals.  

  • Provide rehabilitation support, recovery-oriented activities, interventions, and skill development necessary for the client to improve self-management and reduce substance use, minimize psychiatric symptoms, and work on functional impairments. 

  • Participate in person-centered treatment planning, including risk assessment and crisis planning and assist clients to identify a meaningful life role goal and objectives through a person-centered approach. 

  • Provide coping skills training to improve navigation of psychiatric illness and its symptoms 

  • Provide social skills training, benefits and financial management, and daily living skills training. 

  • Assist clients with dietary and wellness education, including meal planning, healthy shopping and meal preparation and nutrition awareness. 

  • Support clients to increase personal autonomy, including transportation navigation. 

  • Provide employment services to assist individuals in pursuing, securing, and retaining employment if identified as chosen life role goal. 

  • Actively participate on a multidisciplinary team. 

  • Provide ongoing assessment of clients' progress toward recovery, functional skills and impairment levels. 

  • Assist with the training of staff, volunteers and student interns as assigned. 

  • Exhibit exemplary knowledge of the biopsychosocial process of substance use disorders/recovery, behavioral health, self-help group processes, and principles of counseling.  

  • Relate effectively with staff, patients, and professional community while upholding appropriate standards of confidentiality. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, Associate's Degree required.  
  • One to three years of employment experience working with individuals with substance use and serious mental health disorders.    
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the educational requirements.         
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications.  
  • Valid NYS Drivers License is required

Salary and hourly compensation offers are based on candidate's education level and experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager and program.
