Overview

Helio Health is on a mission to treat and promote recovery from the effects of substance use, mental health disorders, and other behavioral healthcare issues. To support the mission of Helio Health we are looking to hire an experienced and insightful Behavioral Healthcare Psychiatrist who will be responsible for the general healthcare and wellbeing and addiction treatment of our patients.

 

The Behavioral Healthcare Psychiatrist will work on a Per Diem basis out of Helio Health’s OASAS licensed Inpatient Rehabilitation facility located in Syracuse, NY, providing medical examination/evaluations, order lab work and diagnostic testing, medically assess level of care, make appropriate medical referrals, and to assist staff in understanding patients' medical issues and needs. 

 

 

Pay Range: Up to $200/hr.

 

 

 

Working Relationships:

  • Works under the guidance of Program Administration and the Executive Medical Director.

Responsibilities

  • Order routine lab work and diagnostic testing when appropriate to assess patients’ levels of chemical dependency and determine appropriate medical referrals. 
  • Assist staff in understanding clients’ medical and psychiatric needs.
  • Provide direct patient care of medical examination, implementation of medical orders, treatment of medical conditions, and reporting of communicable and infectious disease in accordance with the law. 
  • Provide and supervise the provision of the diagnosis and continuous management, including regular clinical reassessments of patients’ diseases and disorders.
  • Serve on special review and quality assurance committees as assigned.
  • Supervise and review the distribution of medical staff, including physician assistants and nurses, in the dispensing of medication and the provision of primary care. 
  • Represent the medical perspective during team meetings.
  • Provide first aid and emergency care to patients who become ill while in Helio Health programs.

Qualifications

  • Must be a licensed physician currently registered by the NYS Education Department. (MD or DO)
  • At least one year of experience or comparable training in the treatment of substance abuse and/or dependency.
  • ASAM Board Certification preferred, or willingness to work towards certification.
  • Have prescriptive authority and a DEA number.
  • Must be able and willing to prescribe all available Medical Assisted Treatment (MAT) options.
  • Basic computer skills required.

Salary and hourly compensation ranges are provided in accordance with NYS law and are based on Helio Health's good faith belief of what is accurate at the time of posting. Salary and hourly compensation offers are based on candidate's education level and experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager and program.
