Overview

Helio Health is on a mission to treat and promote recovery from the effects of substance use, mental health disorders, and other behavioral healthcare issues. The Substance Use Disorder Counselor will work on a Full-Time basis out of Helio Health’s Syracuse Opioid Treatment Program (OTP).

 

In addition to Helio Health’s comprehensive benefits package, Full-Time hires for this position are eligible for a Sign-On Incentive up to $3,000!

 

Pay: $22.11 - $28.33 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a case load of patients seeking treatment from the effects of substance use and/or mental health disorders.
  • Perform essential counseling responsibilities including screening, intake and orientation, assessment, evaluation and intervention, treatment planning, referrals, crisis intervention, counseling, patient education, case management, reporting and record keeping.
  • Participate in program, administrative and clinical committees as assigned.   
  • Relate effectively with staff, clients, and community while upholding confidentiality requirements.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in a human service field with minimum of CASAC-T required.
    • Or a Bachelor’s Degree in a human service field with demonstrated steady progress towards QHP status (CASAC-T or enrolled in a MSW or Mental Health Counseling Masters or equivalent licensure-oriented program).
  • One year counseling experience preferred.
  • Equivalent alternative combination of education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirements.
  • Knowledge of addiction/recovery, behavioral health, self-help group process and principles of counseling. 
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications.
